Mela (2000 film)

Mela Hindi meaning Fair is a 2000 Bollywood action masala film directed by Dharmesh Darshan. It starrs Aamir Khan, his reallife brother Faisal Khan, and Twinkle Khanna. It is still remembered for being one of the biggest boxoffice failures of the year 2000

Actress Karishma Kapoor was first offered the female lead but due to date issues, she declined the offer. Director Dharmesh Darshan was left disheartened that his first and favorite choice was no longer part of his project, considering that Kapoor and Darshans first collaboration was a huge success back in 1996 with Raja Hindustani. Darshan looked for a replacement and roped in three actresses Raveena Tandon, Sonali Bendre and Twinkle Khanna. The role ultimately went to Twinkle Khanna. In order to display resemblance between Kapoor and Khanna, the director had the same clothes and the same wig that Karishma had worn in Raja Hindustani for Twinkle.Aditya Pancholi was signed for villains role but opted out as he did not want to be bare chested through out the film.Puru Raajkumar was offered Faisal Khans role at one point. ........
